Role Overview

As the Head of Engineering at Trustero, you will lead the engineering team in developing and scaling our platform. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will drive the technical vision, oversee product development, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Sales, and Customer Success, to align technical initiatives with business objectives.

We are seeking a player-coach who enjoys both leading and performing hands-on technical work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a role where they can engage in architecture design, hands-on coding, and conducting code reviews while also mentoring and guiding the team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy

    • Lead and mentor a team of geographically distributed engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

    • Define and execute the technical strategy to align with Trustero’s business goals

    • Drive technical excellence and engineering best practices across the organization.

    • Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to company strategy and decision-making.

  • Technical Vision & Roadmap

    • Own the architecture, design, and scalability of the Trustero platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our customers.

    • Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define technical requirements and drive product development from concept to launch.

    • Perform hands-on architecture design, write code, and conduct code reviews to ensure technical quality and scalability.

    • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies and tools to enhance product capabilities and development efficiency.

  • Team Management & Growth

    • Attract, recruit, and retain top engineering talent, building a diverse and inclusive team.

    • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans for the engineering team.

    • Foster a strong engineering culture based on ownership, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Execution & Delivery

    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of product features, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and at high quality.

    • Implement and maintain processes that ensure product reliability, security, and scalability.

    • Continuously improve development processes, driving agility and efficiency in the engineering team.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Act as a bridge between engineering and other departments, translating technical requirements into business solutions.

    • Communicate engineering strategies, progress, and challenges to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.

    • Provide technical guidance and insight to other executives and board members as needed.

Job requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Minimally, bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity.

  • Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams in a SaaS environment.

  • Extensive experience with agile development methodology and proven success in shipping SaaS products.

  • Strong technical background in software architecture, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and modern web technologies.

  • Experience building and deploying scalable, secure, and high-performance systems.

  • Ability to engage in hands-on coding, architecture design, and conduct code reviews.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with compliance, governance, or cybersecurity-related SaaS products.

  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience building machine learning applications using techniques similar to Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is a plus.

  • Understanding of compliance and security standards, especially related to SOC 2 or similar frameworks.
